Call Again
Pastor Jerry A. BurnsCall unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Jeremiah 33:3Jeremiah was shut up in the court of the prison while the Chaldean army closed in on Jerusalem. From behind those walls, everything he could see said the city was finished. Yet God came to him a second time and said, “Call unto me.”
Jeremiah had already prayed in the chapter before. God did not tell him to sit back and wait because the answer was on its way. He told him to call again, because God’s promises are not given to make us lazy in prayer but to make us pray more.
I am thankful God hears us, but I am more thankful that He does more than listen. He promises to show “great and mighty things” we do not know, things we could never figure out from behind a prison wall. He does not just tell us about them; He shows them by doing them.
So what wall are you staring at right now? You cannot see past it, but God can see what is on the other side. Do what Jeremiah was told to do, and call again.
