Matthew 11:28 — “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

We live in a world consumed by stress—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Stress leads to real harm: from high blood pressure to broken relationships. But in the midst of life’s pressures, Jesus offers a gentle invitation: “Come to Me…and I will give you rest.”

When Jesus spoke these words, He was addressing people weighed down by religious rules and expectations they could never meet. But His promise still speaks today: in Him, we can find true rest—not just relief from our busyness, but deep, soul-satisfying peace.

Stress isn’t always bad. A little stress can strengthen us, like resistance builds muscle. But prolonged, unnecessary stress harms us. Often, this stress comes from things we can control—like living without clear purpose, setting unrealistic goals, harboring anger, or chasing material gain.

So how do we choose rest over stress?

✅ Gain God’s perspective — See challenges as opportunities for growth, trusting that God is in control.

✅ Live in the present — God is the great I AM, offering grace for today. Don’t get trapped in regret or worry.

✅ Make space for rest — God designed us to need it. Set aside time to recharge—physically, emotionally, spiritually.

✅ Spend daily time with the Lord — Only in His presence will we find strength that lasts and peace that endures.

Let’s lay down our unnecessary burdens and accept Christ’s invitation to rest. His strength is perfect for every need.
