Philippians 2:27 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. — Philippians 2:27

Epaphroditus was not just sick-he was near death. But God had mercy on him. Paul also recognizes that this mercy extended to him as well, because losing Epaphroditus would have brought “sorrow upon sorrow.”

This shows the deep relationships in ministry. Paul and Epaphroditus were not just co-workers-they were closely connected in heart and service.
