This verse reveals Paul’s deep confidence in the work of God.
The Christian life begins with God. Salvation is not something we start on our own-it is God who initiates the work in our hearts. But the same God who begins the work also continues and completes it.
The good work of God includes several aspects:
The work God has done for us - salvation
The work God is doing in us - sanctification
The work God desires to do through us - service
Paul believed that God would continue shaping and maturing these believers until the day they stood before Christ.
Many people begin the Christian life with enthusiasm but struggle to remain faithful. Paul warned in Galatians 5:7, “Ye did run well; who did hinder you?” Yet his confidence rested not in human strength but in God’s faithfulness.
The God who saves is also the God who sustains.
