Exodus 8:28 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me. — Exodus 8:28

“Not very far away…”

Another compromise. The world says, “Go ahead-just don’t go too far.

The enemy fears a fully surrendered believer (Romans 12:1).

It’s interesting to me that a fully surrendered Christian is often viewed as a fanatic. That is where we get the word “fan.” When someone travels long distances to watch their favorite team play, paints their face in team colors, spends large amounts of money, and makes great sacrifices for sports, we simply call them a devoted fan.

But when a Christian makes sacrifices for Christ-when they faithfully attend church, live committed to the Lord, serve faithfully, and openly love their Saviour-the world often calls them extreme or even crazy.

The truth is, people usually do not mind passion until that passion is directed toward Jesus Christ.
