The chapter ends with innocence and purity. Adam and Eve were both naked and were not ashamed.
There was no shame because there was no sin. There was nothing to hide, nothing to cover, and nothing to fear. They were living in the goodness of God’s creation, in fellowship with God, and in harmony with one another.
Shame enters after sin. But here, before the fall, Adam and Eve are enjoying the creation God had provided for them.
Genesis 2 closes by showing us God’s good design. We are created in the image of God, placed in a world created by God, given work by God, commanded by God, and blessed with relationships ordained by God.
How sad it is that people leave God out of their lives. Everything good in Genesis 2 came from Him: life, purpose, provision, work, law, marriage, and fellowship.
