John 13:31 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. — John 13:31

Once Judas leaves, Jesus begins speaking openly to His true disciples.

What is amazing is that Jesus speaks about glory while the cross is directly ahead of Him. Humanly speaking, the cross looked like shame, suffering, rejection, and death. But Heaven saw glory.

The cross glorified the Son because it revealed:

  • His obedience
  • His love
  • His sacrifice
  • His holiness

At Calvary, the justice of God and the love of God met together.

Jesus was not losing control-He was fulfilling the eternal plan of redemption.

What looked like defeat was actually victory (Isaiah 53:10-12, Philippians 2:8-11, Hebrews 12:2).
