Exodus 8:3 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs: — Exodus 8:3

“The river shall bring forth frogs abundantly…”

The Nile, which Egypt worshipped as sacred, becomes the source of their suffering. What they trusted in becomes their torment.

These frogs would invade every part of life-homes, bedrooms, beds, kitchens, ovens, and kneading troughs. Even the most ordinary and necessary parts of daily life were affected. There was no escape.

A kneading trough was used to prepare bread-meaning their very food supply and daily sustenance was corrupted. This shows how complete God’s judgment was.

No one is beyond God’s reach (Romans 2:11, Proverbs 16:5)
