Philippians 2:8 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. — Philippians 2:8

Now I see His example in its fullest form-humility expressed through obedience. The word “fashion” speaks of His outward appearance as a man, though inwardly He is God. He humbled Himself completely. He submitted not only to death, but to the death of the cross-the most humiliating form of death. The sinless Creator submitted to the consequences of sin. As Isaiah prophesied, He was “led as a lamb to the slaughter” (Isaiah 53:7). This is the ultimate picture of humility.
