When Convictions Lose Their Compassion
A university course intended to critique creationism and intelligent design was canceled after the professor publicly mocked Christian believers in an e-mail. What was meant to be an academic discussion became a controversy when dismissive language and personal insults replaced respectful dialogue. Though the professor later apologized, the damage had already been done. The class was canceled—not merely because of disagreement, but because of the tone in which disagreement was expressed.
There is an important lesson here for believers. While we may hold strong convictions about truth, we must never sacrifice Christlike character in defending them. The world often models debate through ridicule and insult. But Scripture calls us to something higher. Truth without grace becomes harsh. Conviction without compassion becomes combative. Even when others mock or misrepresent our faith, we are commanded to respond with gentleness and respect.
The credibility of our message is often tied to the spirit in which we deliver it. We can be firm without being cruel. We can stand boldly without speaking bitterly. When believers engage culture, classrooms, or conversations, our tone should reflect the Savior we represent. The goal is not to win arguments—it is to reflect Christ.
Read 1 Peter 3 this week and underline how believers are instructed to respond when facing opposition or misunderstanding.
Speak truth clearly, but always with grace and humility. Let your tone reflect Christ as much as your convictions do.

Trusting God With Tomorrow (Pt. 3)
In this final part of the message, “Trusting God with Tomorrow,” we are brought face to face with a powerful truth from Scripture—while we often plan our days and assume the future, the Bible teaches us that life is fragile, uncertain, and completely in God’s hands. As James reminds us, our life is “even a vapour” that appears for a little time and then vanishes away . The issue is not planning, but planning without God—living as though we are in control of what only God knows.
This message walks through the heart of biblical trust: having a proper perspective of tomorrow, a humble posture before God today, and a surrendered plan that says, “If the Lord will.” Whether facing uncertainty, fear, or the illusion of control, we are called to draw near to God, rest in His care, and trust that His will is good, even when tomorrow is unknown. Because Christ has risen, our future is secure—not in our plans, but in His perfect hands.
