Success Over Stress
I just finished reading Success Over Stress by H. Norman Wright, and it felt like someone gently putting their finger on the pulse of modern life. We live in a world that measures success by speed, productivity, possessions, and pressure. The “hurry illness” he describes is real. We rush from one commitment to another, fill every margin with noise, and call it responsibility. But somewhere along the way, our souls fall behind.
Jesus offers something radically different. He does not promise a stress-free life, but He promises rest for the soul. That phrase strikes deeply — rest for your souls. Not just physical rest. Not a vacation. Not a cleared calendar. Soul rest. The kind of rest that comes when your priorities are aligned with eternity instead of urgency. The kind of rest that comes when success is defined by obedience rather than applause.
Stress often grows when we carry burdens God never assigned to us. We try to impress people, control outcomes, and prove our worth. But Christ invites us into a yoke — not a crushing weight, but a shared load. When we walk beside Him, He carries what we cannot. When we let Him define our pace, our priorities, and our purpose, the weight begins to shift.
Maybe real success is not doing more — but doing what matters most. Not living faster — but living faithful. Not proving ourselves — but trusting the One who already knows our frame.
Take inventory of your stress this week. Ask yourself: Is this burden from God, or is it something I’ve picked up trying to please others or prove myself? Choose one commitment you can either release or realign with God’s priorities. Create margin — even thirty quiet minutes — to let your soul catch up with your schedule. Pray through Matthew 11:28–30 slowly and personally. Rest is not weakness; it is trust.
"The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; And all the upright in heart shall glory." — Psalm 64:10

What are you Seeking?
In this week’s message titled "What are you Seeking?" from Kitchener Baptist Church, Pastor Jerry A. Burns explores John 20 to show how the world searches for meaning in the wrong places. Listeners will hear how Solomon looked for purpose in worldly success and pleasures only to find vanity, and how Mary Magdalene sought her Savior at the tomb, weeping for the dead before discovering He had risen.
Pastor Burns reminds us that true life is found only in Jesus Christ. The reality of Christ gives us life, and His resurrection is the key to our salvation and eternal life. We must choose life, for Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Join us on "Timeless Truths" as we turn to God's Word for these vital answers.
