When scientists from the University of Waterloo observed a distant “jellyfish galaxy” using the James Webb Space Telescope, they described forces, motion, pressure, and structure. They spoke of gas being stripped, gravity holding, environments shaping. The language of modern astronomy is filled with terms like laws, forces, systems, and structure.
But here’s the quiet question underneath it all: where did those laws come from?
Evolutionary theory attempts to explain biological development through natural processes over time. It addresses adaptation and change within living organisms. Yet it does not ultimately answer why there are orderly laws in the first place, why the universe is mathematically precise, or why gravity consistently holds galaxies together across billions of light-years. Order presupposes law. Law presupposes a Lawgiver.
Scripture does not present the universe as an accident but as an intentional act of creation. “By him were all things created.” The galaxy does not hold itself together by random chance. It is sustained by laws written by God and upheld by His power. The breathtaking design we observe does not weaken faith—it strengthens it. The more we discover, the more we see fingerprints of wisdom.
Countering evolution, then, is not about rejecting science. It is about rejecting the idea that blind, purposeless processes can account for the origin of everything. As believers, we affirm that variation within creation exists, but we deny that life and order arose without a Designer. The telescope does not remove God; it magnifies Him.
The deeper scientists look into space, the more intricate the universe appears. The deeper we look into Scripture, the clearer the Author becomes.

Application
When you hear conversations that frame life as accidental or purposeless, don’t become defensive—be confident. Let creation strengthen your faith. Study it. Marvel at it. Use it as a bridge for gospel conversations. Remember that your life is not the result of cosmic chance. You were created intentionally and sustained daily by the One who holds galaxies together. Live with purpose, because you were designed with purpose.
