Trusting the Tracks You Cannot See

Proverbs 3:5–6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

A few Sundays ago, I decided to visit my Son Allan in Bible college and then return home by train. As I sat there watching the towns, cities and building pass by the window, I realized something interesting. I had absolutely no idea where every mile of track was going. I couldn’t see the curves ahead. I didn’t know when we would turn, slow down, or pass through the next town. Yet I wasn’t worried about it at all.

Why? Because I trusted the system. Somewhere ahead there were tracks already laid down. The engineer knew the route, and the railway had prepared the path long before I ever stepped onto the train. My job wasn’t to control the train—it was simply to trust the ride.

The Christian life works much the same way. We often want God to show us every mile of the journey before we take the next step. We want to know how circumstances will unfold, how problems will resolve, and where our decisions will lead. But God rarely reveals the whole map. Instead, He asks us to trust Him one step at a time.

God already sees the track ahead. He knows the curves in the road, the valleys we will pass through, and the destination He is bringing us toward. When we trust Him, we are not trusting blindly—we are trusting the One who laid the tracks before we ever arrived.

Application

Sometimes the hardest part of faith is learning to trust when we cannot see what lies ahead. Like a passenger on a train, we may not understand every turn in the journey, but we can trust the One guiding the path. Instead of leaning on our own understanding, we must rest in the confidence that God knows exactly where He is leading us.

Victory Verse

"For I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth" — Job 19:25

Additional Verses
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way."
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
"O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps."
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
"By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went."

Trusting God With Tomorrow (Pt. 3)

In this final part of the message, “Trusting God with Tomorrow,” we are brought face to face with a powerful truth from Scripture—while we often plan our days and assume the future, the Bible teaches us that life is fragile, uncertain, and completely in God’s hands. As James reminds us, our life is “even a vapour” that appears for a little time and then vanishes away . The issue is not planning, but planning without God—living as though we are in control of what only God knows.

This message walks through the heart of biblical trust: having a proper perspective of tomorrow, a humble posture before God today, and a surrendered plan that says, “If the Lord will.” Whether facing uncertainty, fear, or the illusion of control, we are called to draw near to God, rest in His care, and trust that His will is good, even when tomorrow is unknown. Because Christ has risen, our future is secure—not in our plans, but in His perfect hands.
