OUR RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

OUR RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

Dear Kitchener Baptist Church,

God has been so good to us, and I am thankful that He is always in control! I also believe that prayer truly makes a difference in needy times like these.

Even though there are multiple opinions concerning COVID-19, any virus should be taken seriously. The health of our congregation is of utmost importance, and we want to do our part to minimize the effects of this disease.

I wanted to give a few updates regarding our church services.

First, we are making sure that our church is disinfected thoroughly before each service.

It’s also crucial that we suspend handshaking for the time being. A friendly wave and a warm smile can be our method of greeting each other until the threat of COVID-19 is over.

At this time, I have decided to pause the bus ministry. This decision wasn’t an easy one to make, but it’s vital for the health and wellbeing of the children who faithfully attend our services. We also decided to join all the children’s classes together during our 10:30 am service. Each children’s ministry will meet together in the Bible Centre and will be led by Dan Porlier.

We will not meet together for our 9:30 am Sunday School until further notice. Our three primary services (Sunday at 10:30 am, 6 pm, and Wednesday at 7 pm) will be our focus until COVID-19 is contained. We will also postpone any additional activities at the church like the Ladies’ Prayer Breakfast until further notice.

If you have an underlying health condition or, because of your age, have concerns for the current virus pandemic, or if you are a caretaker of someone who may be vulnerable to the virus, let me encourage you to join us from home via live stream at kitchenerbaptist.org/live.

I want to remind you of the words of Paul in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” We need to remember that God is still on the throne and that we can trust Him to take care of His church.

Let’s pray together that God will use this crisis in our world to bring glory to His excellent name.

Your Friend,

Pastor Jerry Burns
