From Routine to Relationship
I remember when I was directing the children’s ministry at Kitchener Baptist Church, and we would gather the boys and girls together with energy and excitement, teaching them simple truths through song. One of the favourites was, “Read your Bible, pray every day, and you’ll grow, grow, grow.” Then, with a little more drama, we would sing, “Neglect your Bible, forget to pray, and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink.” It was simple, memorable, and true at a foundational level. Those little hearts were learning that spiritual growth doesn’t happen by accident.
But as the years have gone on, I’ve come to understand something deeper. The Christian life is not just about checking boxes—reading a chapter or saying a quick prayer. It is about truly hearing God and responding to Him. The Bible is not just a book to read, but a voice to obey. Prayer is not just words to say, but a dependence to live out. Jesus emphasized not just hearing His sayings, but doing them. Growth doesn’t come from routine alone—it comes from relationship.
In my 21 years of marriage, I’ve learned that communication is more than talking—it’s connection. You can say words without ever truly engaging the heart. But when there is real communication, trust is built, love deepens, and commitment strengthens. The same is true in our walk with God. When Scripture says, “Draw nigh to God,” it is calling us into something personal and real. It is heartfelt prayer, yes—but also obedience when it’s hard, praise when life doesn’t make sense, and trust when we don’t have all the answers.
So yes, read your Bible. Yes, pray every day. But don’t stop there. Listen. Respond. Obey. Lean on Him. That’s where true growth happens—not just in the habit, but in the relationship.
Today, don’t just “go through” your Bible reading or prayer time—engage your heart. Ask God to speak, and be willing to respond in obedience to what He shows you.
"It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man." — Psalm 118:8

Trusting God With Tomorrow (Pt. 3)
In this final part of the message, “Trusting God with Tomorrow,” we are brought face to face with a powerful truth from Scripture—while we often plan our days and assume the future, the Bible teaches us that life is fragile, uncertain, and completely in God’s hands. As James reminds us, our life is “even a vapour” that appears for a little time and then vanishes away . The issue is not planning, but planning without God—living as though we are in control of what only God knows.
This message walks through the heart of biblical trust: having a proper perspective of tomorrow, a humble posture before God today, and a surrendered plan that says, “If the Lord will.” Whether facing uncertainty, fear, or the illusion of control, we are called to draw near to God, rest in His care, and trust that His will is good, even when tomorrow is unknown. Because Christ has risen, our future is secure—not in our plans, but in His perfect hands.
