The Power of Humility

Isaiah 37:1 “And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.”

When Hezekiah heard the mocking threats of Assyria, he didn’t summon his generals or craft a clever rebuttal—he humbled himself before God. That’s real leadership. That’s real trust. In a moment of crisis, he didn’t puff up with pride or panic with despair. He tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and entered the house of the Lord. The king of Judah went to the King of Heaven.

This is what trusting God looks like—it starts with humility. When you reach the end of your rope, don’t tighten your grip; let go and fall into the arms of your faithful God. Hezekiah didn’t pretend to have it all together. He admitted the burden was too great and laid it at the feet of the Lord. And God, who resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, was ready to answer.
