John 12:3 “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.”
Mary didn’t say a word, yet her love spoke volumes. With trembling hands, she broke open her alabaster jar—likely the most valuable thing she owned—and poured it out upon Jesus. In a moment of extravagant devotion, she humbled herself, kneeling at His feet and wiping them with her hair. That costly perfume didn’t just touch Jesus—it filled the house. Her worship permeated the air and left a fragrance that outlasted the moment.
There’s a beauty in surrendered worship. It doesn’t seek applause or recognition. It gives all for an audience of One. Mary’s act wasn’t just a sacrifice of wealth; it was a declaration of love, trust, and honor. The aroma of her gift teaches us that true worship affects everyone around us—it fills the space with something holy. When we pour out our best for Jesus, we fill our homes, our churches, and our lives with the fragrance of faith.
