Isaiah 37:14–15 “And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD…”
What do you do with bad news? Hezekiah took it to God. The king didn’t vent to his advisors or stew in worry—he took the letter, the threat, the fear, and laid it before the Lord. It’s a beautiful image: a weary man walking into the temple, carrying his burden, and leaving it before the throne of grace. That’s prayer in its purest form—honest, humble, and trusting.
This is a picture we need to keep in mind. You can’t always control what news arrives at your door, but you can choose where to take it. Hezekiah’s strength wasn’t in his strategy; it was in his surrender. And God heard him. When life delivers a heavy letter, don’t carry it alone. Spread it before the Lord, and let Him carry what you never could.
