I AM: The Resurrection and the Life
Scripture: John 11:1-44
Jesus’ final “I AM” statement, “I am the resurrection and the life,” reveals that He is not only the giver of life but the very source of it. In John 11, Jesus’ friend Lazarus dies, and by the time Jesus arrives, he’s been in the tomb four days. Yet even in the face of death, Jesus declares that belief in Him brings eternal life—“he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” The miracle that follows—Lazarus walking out of the grave—proves that Jesus holds power over death itself.
This message reminds us that life without Christ is spiritual death, but faith in Him brings both abundant life now and everlasting life to come. Just as Lazarus was freed from his grave clothes, believers are set free from sin to live in victory, fellowship, and loyalty to Christ. The same voice that called Lazarus from the tomb still calls today—offering hope, freedom, and eternal life to all who believe.
