Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

Jude 21 “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”

There’s a sobering truth in the Christian life: staying close to God is not automatic. Jude reminds us that while God’s love is constant and unchanging, we must be intentional about remaining in the warmth of that love. Like a child who wanders away from the comfort of their parent’s side, we can drift from the awareness and enjoyment of God’s nearness—not because He left, but because we did.

Judah “drew not near to her God,” as Zephaniah described. She stopped listening, she refused correction, and her trust shifted. As a result, she grew distant. We are warned in the same way—check your spiritual location. Have you allowed bitterness, busyness, or complacency to pull you away? Are you still warmed by His presence, or are you growing cold?

To keep ourselves in the love of God means to stay near His Word, remain in prayer, walk in obedience, and actively rest in His grace. It’s not about earning His love—it’s about enjoying it. God hasn’t moved. Have you?
