It Is I; Be Not Afraid

Mark 6:50 “For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

They thought He was a ghost. They cried out in fear. But then, through the crashing waves and their pounding hearts, they heard His voice: “Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.” What calmed the storm wasn’t just that Jesus showed up—it was that they knew who He was. His presence brings peace when we recognize His voice in the chaos.

I remember visiting a hospital room with a dear lady from church who was battling cancer. Tubes, monitors, pain—everything was loud and overwhelming. But when we read Scripture and began to pray, peace filled the room. Tears fell, but they weren’t from fear—they were from comfort. She knew Jesus was near. Maybe you’re facing something that feels bigger than you. The storm might not stop instantly—but listen. He’s speaking. “It is I.” That’s enough.
