Mark 6:47–48 “And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. And he saw them toiling in rowing…”
Jesus was on the mountain. The disciples were in the sea. Darkness had fallen, the storm had risen, and the wind was pressing hard against them. But Jesus saw them. That phrase is easy to miss—but it’s everything. He wasn’t indifferent to their struggle. He wasn’t too far to notice. From the mountaintop, while interceding, He had His eyes on them the entire time. Before He walked on water, before He calmed the storm, before He stepped into the boat—He saw.
That moment reminds me of a time I felt buried under the weight of ministry and stress. I remember praying, “Lord, do You even see me?” And He gently reminded me through this passage: Yes, I do. Maybe you’re in a storm and you feel forgotten. You’re rowing, exhausted, and going nowhere. Hear this: Jesus sees you. His eyes haven’t left you. He’s not waiting to meet you when you make it through—He’s already on His way.
