God Comes to the Lowly

Luke 2:8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Shepherds were ordinary, overlooked, and sometimes despised. Yet God chose them—not princes, not scholars, not priests—to receive heaven’s greatest announcement. This reveals the heart of God: He delights in meeting the humble and lifting the lowly.

You may feel unseen in a world that celebrates influence and status, but God sees you exactly where you are. The shepherds weren’t in a temple—they were in a field. And God met them there. Wherever you are today—working, serving, parenting, struggling—the Lord knows your field. He meets ordinary people in ordinary places with extraordinary grace.
