As Jesus hung on the cross, enduring unthinkable pain, His eyes found His mother standing near. In that tender moment, He honored her, entrusting her care to the beloved disciple John. “Woman, behold thy son! … Behold thy mother!” (John 19:26-27).
This scene reminds us of:
✔ Mary’s Life: A woman of purity, faith, and devotion-favored by God, but whose heart was pierced as she witnessed her Son’s suffering.
✔ Mary’s Desire: Like any loving mother, she wanted the best for her Son-and ultimately surrendered to God’s greater plan, though it cost her deeply.
✔ Jesus’ Example: Even in His final moments, Jesus modeled how we are to honor and care for our parents. His act of love from the cross teaches us to esteem our mothers and fathers with gratitude and respect.
