A Saviour for All People

Luke 2:11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

“Unto you” — not just Israel, not just the rich or educated, not just the righteous or religious. Christ came for all people, and He came personally. A Saviour implies rescue… because mankind needed rescuing. The message of Christmas is that our greatest need has been met in God’s greatest gift.

Jesus didn’t come to improve us—He came to save us and make us new. He didn’t come to be an example only—He came to be a Redeemer. Salvation is not earned; it is received. Let this truth fill your heart with awe: the Child in the manger is the Lord of heaven, and He came for you.
