Mercy Still Shows Up in the Morning

Lamentations 3:22–23It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

As I look across our country, I see people tired. Rising costs, housing pressure, uncertainty about the future, and a constant stream of bad news have worn many Canadians down. Even believers are feeling the weight. Jeremiah understood that kind of weariness. He wasn’t writing from a peaceful retreat—he was standing in devastation. Yet he declared that mercy still arrived with the morning.

That truth speaks to me personally. The calendar turning does not guarantee hope, but God’s faithfulness does. Every morning we wake up is evidence that God has not given up on us. Before we make plans or promises, God meets us with mercy. If you opened your eyes today, God has already extended grace toward you.
