“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” — Matthew 6:26
If you live around Kitchener, you’ve probably seen those big, dark turkey vultures soaring overhead. They’re not exactly the most glamorous birds — no bright feathers, no cheerful song — but they sure know how to ride the wind. What’s incredible is that every one of those birds is cared for by God. They don’t plant gardens or store food in barns, yet somehow, they always find what they need.
Sometimes we forget that the same God who provides for the turkey vulture also provides for us. We look at our bills, our busy schedules, or our uncertain future and start to worry — as if God somehow stopped being faithful. But those vultures are living proof that He hasn’t. If He feeds a scavenger that most people overlook, how much more will He care for His own children, whom He redeemed by the blood of His Son?
So the next time you see a vulture circling above Kitchener, let it preach a little sermon to your heart. God is still on His throne. He’s still providing. And if He watches over the birds of the air — even the ugly ones — then you can be sure He hasn’t forgotten about you.
