Reconciliation Is Worth the Risk

Genesis 33:1–2  “And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.”

Jacob faced what he feared most—meeting Esau again. With his family behind him, Jacob took the risk of reconciliation. Fear whispers, “It’s not worth it,” but faith says, “Peace is worth the risk.” True reconciliation requires vulnerability, and that can be frightening.

Sometimes God calls us to take uncomfortable steps toward peace. The outcome isn’t guaranteed, but obedience is. Just as Jacob laid everything on the line, we too must trust God with the outcome when we seek restoration. Peace doesn’t come to those who wait for perfect conditions—it comes to those who pursue it.
