Genesis 33:4 “And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.”
Jacob braced himself for anger, but instead was met with forgiveness. Esau’s embrace shocked him—restoration came when he least expected it. Isn’t that the beauty of forgiveness? It disarms fear and replaces it with tears of joy. Many of us carry fears of rejection or bitterness, but sometimes God surprises us with undeserved grace.
The prodigal son also expected rejection, yet his father ran to meet him with compassion. In the same way, our heavenly Father receives us with open arms, even when we’ve failed Him. Forgiveness is never earned; it is given. And when it is given, it heals wounds we thought would never mend.
