Philippians 3:13–14 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Paul admitted he hadn’t yet “arrived” spiritually, but he refused to live in the past—whether in regret or in pride. Instead, he pressed forward toward a singular goal: becoming more like Christ. Spiritual hunger is not satisfied with yesterday’s victories or defeated by yesterday’s failures. It longs for more of Jesus today.
Every believer has the same high calling: to reflect Christ in thought, word, and deed. The Christian life is a race of endurance, not a sprint of quick accomplishments. If we are not hungering for righteousness, we will settle for the lesser meals of worldly success or selfish ambition. True fulfillment comes when we press forward with our eyes fixed on Christ, hungering for His presence and His likeness above all.
