The Loving Shepherd

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

When Jesus called Himself the Good Shepherd, He wasn’t speaking in vague, poetic terms. He was declaring His willingness to give the ultimate sacrifice — His own life — for the safety of His sheep. Shepherds in Israel would risk their lives against lions, wolves, and thieves, but Jesus went further. He didn’t just risk His life; He laid it down voluntarily for sinners who didn’t even deserve it. His love is not conditional or temporary. It is sacrificial, eternal, and personal.

Have you ever thought of yourself as one of His sheep? He sees you, knows you by name, and loves you so much that He placed Himself in harm’s way — on the cross — to protect you from sin and death. When the enemy comes to destroy, Jesus steps in between. His sacrifice isn’t just a story; it’s your story. You are safe because He gave His life for you.
