Ephesians 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
The “evil day” doesn’t show up with a warning. It comes when temptation catches you off guard, when trials stack up, when confusion clouds your mind. That’s when you discover whether your feet are planted or slipping. Paul says we must be ready to withstand—and then stand. Not retreat. Not crumble. But stand.
The difference between standing and falling often comes down to confidence. Not self-confidence, but God-confidence. When we know we are His—redeemed, loved, and equipped—we can face any spiritual storm without losing ground. The Gospel gives us traction. We don’t stand in shallow feelings, but on the unshakable foundation of God’s Word and promises. When everything around you seems uncertain, you can still say with boldness, “I’m standing—because God is holding me up.”
