2 Samuel 23:12 “But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory.”
Sometimes the fiercest battles are over things that seem small— a teenager’s heart, your morning prayer time, or a field of lentils. To others, it’s just a patch of ground. To Shammah, it was part of God’s inheritance. He stood his ground when everyone else ran away. And because he did, God gave the victory.
Satan doesn’t always go after the biggest things first. He comes for the overlooked places—the quiet disciplines, the hidden convictions like your church attendance. If he can take those, he can advance deeper. But when we lace up the Gospel of peace and plant ourselves in the confidence of God’s promises, we can resist him. Don’t let him take your field. It may look small, but it’s sacred. Your faithfulness may seem unnoticed, but it is not unimportant. If God gave it to you, it’s worth defending.
