Stand Your Ground

Ephesians 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

There’s something powerful about standing your ground—especially when everyone else is running away. Shammah, one of David’s mighty men, understood this when he stood in a field of lentils and refused to give up what God had given. While others fled, he planted his feet and fought, and God gave him a great victory. It wasn’t just about beans. It was about faithfulness in the small things, the things that others count insignificant but God sees as sacred.

We’re living in our own “evil day,” where the enemy wants to take our homes, our churches, our peace, and our testimony. He doesn’t always attack with fire and fury—sometimes he comes quietly, with subtle compromise and slow erosion. And when he does, God’s call remains the same: stand. You may feel alone in the battle. You may feel the urge to run. But don’t. If God gave it to you, it’s worth defending. The Gospel, your family, your convictions, your calling—they’re not up for grabs. Plant your feet in truth and trust. The victory doesn’t come from your strength but from the One who fights through you.
