Lamentations 3:21 “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.”
Jeremiah was no stranger to suffering. In Lamentations 3, he described affliction, misery, and deep sorrow. His heart was heavy, and his memories were painful. Yet in the middle of that emotional storm, something powerful happened. He made a choice—a deliberate mental shift. “This I recall to my mind…” He brought truth to the forefront of his thinking, and it revived his hope.
Sometimes our feelings shout louder than our faith. Our hearts say, “This is hopeless,” but the Spirit reminds us, “God is faithful.” When we line our thoughts up with God’s character—His mercy, compassion, and faithfulness—hope begins to flicker again. It may not roar to life all at once, but it’s there. And in that moment, like Jeremiah, we remember: Hope isn’t the absence of trouble; it’s the presence of God in the middle of it.
