Your Sorrow Shall Be Turned Into Joy
Your Sorrow Shall Be Turned Into Joy

Scripture: John 16:16-22
In John 16:20, Jesus promised His disciples, “Your sorrow shall be turned into joy.” He spoke these words as He prepared them for His departure, warning that trials, grief, and opposition were ahead. Yet, just as a mother’s anguish is replaced by the joy of a newborn child, so their coming sorrow at His death would be transformed into lasting joy at His resurrection.
Like a master puzzle maker, God uses every piece of our lives—even the painful ones—to form His perfect plan. Romans 8:28 assures us that all things work together for good to those who love God. Trials are not meant to trip us up but to stretch our faith. Joy is not just for the end of the process—God wants our joy to be full even in the midst of the process, as we lean on Him in prayer and trust His promises.
The truth is this: sorrow is real, but it is never final for the believer. Because Jesus lives, our hearts can rejoice with a joy no one can take away.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5
