I Am: I Am the Light of the World
I Am: I Am the Light of the World
In John 9, Jesus healed a man who had been blind from birth, declaring, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” This miracle was more than physical healing—it was a sign pointing to spiritual truth. The blind man’s condition pictures all of humanity: born in sin, spiritually blind, and without hope apart from God.
Jesus, the Light, came to reveal the truth of God’s salvation and to lead us out of darkness. Just as the man was told to wash in the pool of Siloam (meaning “Sent”), we are reminded that Jesus was sent by the Father to bring cleansing, forgiveness, and eternal life. The healed man not only received physical sight but also came to believe in Jesus as the Son of God, worshiping Him as Lord.
The light of Christ still shines in a dark world, bringing hope, truth, and life to all who believe. Yet, just as in Jesus’ day, there is opposition to the light. The true dividing line is how we respond—either we come to the light in faith or remain in darkness by choice.
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” – John 12:46
