Exodus 4:13 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. — Exodus 4:13

Moses now speaks more openly: “Send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.” In effect, he is saying, “Send someone else.”

At this point the objections have moved beyond uncertainty into resistance. The pattern is now clear: insecurity, fear of rejection, fear of the unknown, fear of weakness, and finally refusal.

This verse reveals the heart more plainly than before. Moses does not merely feel inadequate; he does not want the assignment.
