Exodus 2:21 | Pastor Burns' Study Notes

And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. — Exodus 2:21

Zipporah means “little bird.”

Names in Scripture often carry meaning, and Zipporah’s name paints a gentle picture. A “little bird” suggests something small, watchful, and perhaps even delicate-yet birds in the Bible are also symbols of care and provision. Jesus said not even a sparrow falls to the ground without the Father knowing (Matthew 10:29).
