That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. — 2 Thessalonians 2:2
The Thessalonian believers had become shaken and troubled. False teachers claimed spiritual revelations, persuasive words, and even forged letters supposedly written by Paul. Paul warns them not to be deceived by any source that contradicts God’s truth.
The same danger exists today. There are countless voices through YouTube, blogs, television personalities, podcasts, and false teachers claiming special insight into prophecy and doctrine. God never intended His people to build their faith upon speculation or sensationalism, but upon His Word.
The “day of Christ” or “day of the Lord” refers to that future period when God will intervene directly in judgment and establish His kingdom purposes on earth. Paul assures them that day had not yet come.
