A New Heaven and Earth

A. The Characteristics of the New Heaven and Earth (Vs. 1)

Isaiah 65:17 “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: And the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”

Isaiah 66:22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, Shall remain before me, saith the Lord, So shall your seed and your name remain.”

B. The City in the New Heaven and Earth (Vs. 2)

Note: This new heaven and earth has a new capital city – New Jerusalem.

Hebrews 11:10 “For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”

C. The Celebration in the New Heaven and Earth (Vss. 2-4)

Note: It’s as a bride adorned for her husband (Verse 2)

Note: A celebration of togetherness of God and men, That He will be our God and will be his people, and forever we will dwell with the Lord. 

1. God will be with us (Vs. 3) 

Tabernacle = tent or dwelling place.

Note: At Christmas, we celebrate that God came to us, at this time, God will be with us.

Note: In a Physical sense, God will pitch His tent among His people.

2. God will Wipe away all the tears from our eyes (Vs. 4)

God will be a comfort to His people. 

There will be nothing in heaven to be sorry about

Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death in victory; And the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; And the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: For the Lord hath spoken it.”

3. No More Death (Vs. 4)

Note: The great consequence for sin is gone. 

1 Corinthians 15:54 “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”

Note: The one that has the power of death is cast into the lake of fire.

3. No Sorrow (Vs. 4)

Note: No mourning. No sorrow. No crying.

Note: No more broken hearts. No tears. No heartache. It will not exist in heaven.

4. No Pain (Vs. 4)

Note: No more physical pain

Note: No more emotional pain

D. Citizens of the New Heaven and Earth (Vs. 6-8)

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit yall things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and emurderers, and fwhoremongers, and gsorcerers, and idolaters, and hall liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Note: The one that started History will end it. History is just HIS-STORY. 

1. The One that Thirsts (Vs. 6)

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

Note: The illustration is one that needs water, who has a needs, comes to God for that need to be met.

Note: Heaven will be filled with those who understand that they are spiritually needy people. 

2. The one that Overcomes (Vs. 7)

1 John 5:4–5 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, evenour faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Note: An overcomer is one that believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of God

Note: They will inherit all things.

Note: This speaks of their position in Christ as a son. A part of the family of God.

Note: This is your inheritance

1 Peter 1:4 “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you
