It is Done

Scripture

The sermon centers on Revelation chapter 21, vividly describing the new heaven and new earth where God makes all things new. This eternal home signifies the end of time as we know it, transitioning into an era of absolute bliss and perfection. The old world, marked by sin and its curses, will be completely removed, and a New Jerusalem will descend from heaven, serving as God's capital city-a place of unparalleled beauty and divine presence. This new reality fulfills ancient prophecies from Isaiah and Peter, highlighting God's power to create everything from nothing and offering a literal, tangible future for believers.

This promised eternal home offers immense comfort and rejoicing. God will wipe away all tears, and there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain-both physical and emotional. This ultimate destination for Christians is a testament to God's eternal plan, fulfilled in Christ, who declares, "It is done." It speaks of a profound relationship where God will be our God, and we shall be His children, having overcome the world through Him. The sermon also emphasizes satisfaction in Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega, who offers the water of life freely to the thirsty.

However, the sermon also addresses the sobering truth that not everyone will inherit this glorious eternal home. Those who reject God-the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars-will face the second death in the lake of fire. Yet, through God's mercy, those who are washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God are declared righteous. This underscores that our salvation is not by our own merit but solely through the grace of Jesus, offering a path to eternal life for all who trust in Him.
